The lifting industry is facing a growing skills and recruitment challenge. In LEEA’s Hidden Industry survey, 79% of firms reported difficulties recruiting new lifting operators, with 69% identifying skills gaps among their existing workforce. At the same time, an ageing workforce highlights an urgent need to attract fresh talent - 85% of UK respondents employ lifting operators aged over 50, with many firms reporting they are unprepared for future retirements.

LEEA members have told us loud and clear: we need to do more to inspire and develop the next generation to build a sustainable future for our industry.
