Describe your role - what does a typical day look like for you?
Once in the office, I will start with a yard walkabout, checking on-site activities and progress. Knowing the ground allows me to next join the toolbox talk, where I listen in and, at times, share and align the team on safety goals and operational priorities.
Back at the desk, I tackle priority emails, clear roadblocks, and then connect with technical and commercial team leaders to keep projects moving.
In between the day, I will take time to walk the ground and chat with the individuals as I feel this is a vital part of bridging any communication gaps between frontline operations and management. On most days, I will also head out to meet clients and catch up on ongoing and future projects, exchanging market insights and nurturing long-term relationships.
Career transition from I.T to the Oil and Gas industry
Prior to joining the oil and gas industry, I worked in information technology, where I held a managerial position as a software solution supplier. I was in charge of offering specialised technological solutions to clients, including those in the shipping and oil industries. Through these interactions, I was exposed to the operations and issues of the oil and gas business. This exposure leads me to learn more about the topic. Driven by a developing curiosity and a desire to challenge myself in another sector, I made the decision to switch into the oil and gas sector
How did you first discover the lifting industry and what inspired you to build a career in it?
I began my journey in Product Sales, and soon after, I was given the opportunity to learn from a team of experienced lifting inspectors. This led to a transition into a Service role, where I took on the responsibility of expanding the service division and offering comprehensive Products, Inspection, Lifting and Operation Solutions.
What are your future ambitions and career goals?
My long-term professional aspirations revolve around sharing my knowledge, experience and skills to build a community that is united in its aim of creating and preserving a safe workplace. I want to help raise industry standards and awareness by encouraging a culture of ongoing learning and cooperation. LEEA supports my dedication to safety and regulatory excellence through engagement opportunities for learning and sharing.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Being able to play a part in making lifting operations safer and more reliable. It’s fulfilling to know that the work I do helps improve workplace safety and keeps people protected on the job.
What is your biggest career highlight to date?
A significant highlight in my career has been developing and expanding our lifting division from a humble beginning into the strong, dependable team it has become today. What originated as a small operation has transformed into a dedicated group of professionals who share a common commitment to safety and implementing best practices. I take pride in how far we've advanced—not only in terms of size but also in the culture we've fostered around accountability, teamwork, and ethical practices. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our team's efforts making a real difference in the field.
What advice do you have for entering the Lifting Industry?
Be patient, review your solutions, plan your work, and always put safety first. It’s not just about lifting—it’s about doing it right every time. One careless move can cost a lot, so stay focus, stay safe.
